System requirements

Run Nexus Server on a computer in your home.

The Nexus Server application can currently be installed on Windows or macOS and is designed to run on a computer within the home.

Minimum guide

For a smaller Nexus system

  • A reasonably modern Intel Core i3-equivalent processor
  • 4GB of RAM
  • Enough free storage for Nexus, its database, metadata, artwork and uploaded photographs
Recommended

For larger libraries and the best performance

  • A modern Intel Core i5-equivalent processor or Apple Silicon Mac
  • 8GB of RAM or more
  • Solid-state storage

Nexus reads media directly from your existing library or network storage rather than copying films, television programmes and music into a separate library. The server therefore does not normally require a large amount of storage, although space is still needed for metadata, artwork, system data and uploaded photographs.

The server should remain powered on and connected to the home network whenever Nexus is in use.

A Lifetime Licence means forever.

Maintenance controls access to future updates—not your right to keep using the software you bought.

Is maintenance required?

No. Optional annual software maintenance and update entitlement after the first 12 months is optional.

Does Nexus stop working?

If maintenance ends, Nexus keeps working on the latest version released during the active entitlement period. You do not need to buy the software again.

Can I restart maintenance later?

Maintenance can be restarted at any time without backdated charges. A new 12-month entitlement begins on the renewal date and restores access to current software updates.

Are lifetime updates included?

Standard Lifetime Licences include updates for the first 12 months. Founding 100 licences separately include future Nexus software updates for life at no additional charge.

Do I ever have to rebuy Nexus?

No. A Lifetime Licence is perpetual. You can keep using the latest Nexus version covered by your entitlement forever. Optional maintenance can lapse and restart without changing that licence.

How are subscriptions different?

Annual and Monthly plans provide software use and updates only while the subscription remains active. Access ends when the subscription ends.
